I am a bit obsessed with my animals. And I make certain if you had a pet dog and a bunny, you 'd be obsessed with them too. Abby (dog) and Niblet (bunny) are well-behaved, really social and have a lot of character. Abby is preferred in the neighborhood and the other pets consider her a star. Lots of animal moms and dads (or any parent) dislike leaving their children when it is time to go to work and I was among them. Many early mornings I would think, I simply want to be a remain at house animal moms and dad.
I've been lucky to work with a lot of excellent people, however cubicle life didn't seem to fit me anymore. I felt the work I was doing might be done from a home. I would take a holiday and feel refreshed for a few days and after that burnout would come back. In the back of my mind I always believed how nice it would be to be my own manager. Having the ability to occasionally get back for lunch and stroll my canine kept me going on bad days.
It ended up being harder and harder to return to the office.
Abby did a terrific task of making me feel guilty whenever I would leave, whether it was in the morning or throughout a lunch see. I knew one day I would find the best scenario to make a change, I just didn't recognize how quickly. The business mindset of being a number on a spreadsheet and a body to fill a job was getting old. Doing the work of three people sufficed to make me kip down my resignation.
As soon as that letter was sent, I felt completely elated. I started counting down the days up until I was complimentary. Every early morning I believed, I won't have to leave home to go to work every early morning really quickly. Just 5 more days, 4 more days, 3 more healthy living days, and so on
. During my last week, I started to put my office together. One of the most essential pieces was a pet dog bed. The only obstacle I'm discovering today is that Abby wishes to rest on my lap as I'm working. I allow it sometimes, how could I not.
It was a tough transition to make, but I have absolutely no regrets. The happiness and freedom I feel outweighs any fear and working in my home office where my furry children run around is my kind of task!
